Within a wood frame, paper triangles of orange, pink, and red form abstract hills where small houses and the Golden Gate Bridge peek into view. A large brown rectangle on the right edge forms a towering tree trunk with green leaves. The artwork sits on a field of dark green, while the entire frame sits against strips of wood. An angled detail view shows the layers of paper leaves, hills, and homes. The artwork is pulled out of its frame and flipped over on a wood surface, revealing a light pencil sketch.
I.

I’m trying to loosen up my process. So this time I abandoned my usual color planning and digital “stencils” and instead worked directly from a loose sketch. In fact, the sketch happens to be on the back of the finished piece.
